To limit this risk the following four selection criteria for inclusion were defined, each weighted equally. The ratings are reviewed annually andthe overall evaluation of the hotel from 1000hotels and the leaderboard is adjusted accordingly.

• International 5 star or particularly unique hotels
• Rating Score on Booking.com
• Rating percent Core of TripAdvisor (Percentage of excellent and very good reviews of total ratings)
• Testimonial from 1000hotels locally or impression of the hotel through internet research

The overall rating of a hotel with a vote of 9.0 Booking a TripAdvisor score of 90% (10 * 0.9) and a review by me of 9 would logically a 9.0

In addition, a geographical and stylistic distribution is tried to achieve, which may result in that a hotel will not be included with a relatively good rating from a highly competitive area or no unique selling point. Of course, the list is to a certain extent also subjective, but there was an attempt to take the best of both worlds and to answer the question which 1000 hotels would travel if money would play no role.
